Art Area of Concentration within Arts and Humanities A.A.

The Art Area of Concentration provides hands-on learning in art history, design, drawing, painting, illustration, sculpture, and pottery. Students explore the creative process while developing technical skills across a variety of artistic mediums. Courses are taught by experienced instructors who are practicing professionals in their fields.

Program Information

The Art Area of Concentration within the A.A. in Arts & Humanities enables the student to explore and develop areas of concentration which may lead to an associate in arts degree, transfer to a four-year college program, or to pursue individual artistic directions.

Success in the program is defined by your ability to apply what you’ve learned in real-world scenarios. This program ensures that every student achieves the following core competencies:

  • Recognize the elements of composition, design, and technique of a work of art.
  • Critique works of art within their cultural and historical context.
  • Produce works of art in a variety of media.
  • Demonstrate the creative process through research, development, and execution.
