Sign Language Interpreting & Transcription Services

Welcome to the Sign Language Interpreting & Transcription Services portal at Frederick Community College (FCC). Managed through Disability Access Services (DAS), this resource ensures equal access to classes, events, and campus activities for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and speech-disabled students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. Sign language interpreting accommodations are available for students, faculty, staff, and FCC guests - including: sign language interpreters, real-time transcription, post-production captioning, and assistive listening devices.

Requests for Service

FCC provides reasonable and equal access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals on our campus. All service requests should be made at least 5 business days in advance. 

Cancellations are requested at least 2 days in advance.

Public Event Requests

Whether you are organizing a public event and need to arrange sign language interpreting, or you are an attendee looking to request interpreting accommodations for an upcoming event, you can submit a request for services.

Sign Language Interpreting

Trained professional interpreters available in person and virtually upon request with (5) business days' notice. If requests are less than (5) business days’ notice, FCC will make every effort to provide sign language interpreting but cannot guarantee that it will be arranged.

Captioning & Transcription

Live captioning or transcription for FCC sponsored events or classes can be provided when necessary.

Post-production transcription/ captioning for media is available upon request.

Sign Language interpreting services will be provided by FCC for the following annual events:

  • Fall & Spring Convocation
  • Graduation Ceremony
  • Celebration of Excellence Ceremony
  • Winter Holiday Celebration/ Luncheon
  • New Student/Parent Orientation

Note: FCC will provide in-person English to ASL stage interpreting for the above events. To request additional Sign Language interpreting services, please submit either a student, employee, or guest request form.
