Graphic Design Area of Concentration within the A.A. in Arts & Humanities - Discontinued
*Due to the newly approved Graphic Design A.A.S. degree, the Graphic Design AOC within the A.A. degree in Arts & Humanities will be discontinued. No new students will be admitted to the AOC program. Students will now select the A.A.S. degree when choosing a major for 2019-2020. **Current students in the 2018-2019 catalog year and prior have the option to complete the AOC within the 5 year teach-out period or to change their major to the AAS degree in the 2019-2020 catalog year.

The Graphic Design Area of Concentration is designed for students whose career goals are oriented toward the mass media in the fields of graphics and publication design. This program places emphasis on the conception, planning, and creation of visual solutions across multiple communication platforms. 

Program curriculum provides students with training in current software as well as design and communication strategies. Students will produce a portfolio of designs including print, web, photography, and presentation graphics. 
 
Internship Program
Internships help students integrate what is taught in school with what is required in the workplace. Students take internships to develop knowledge and skills valued by employers. At FCC, students in certain programs are eligible to receive credit for internships.

Graphic Design Associate of Applied Science
The Graphic Design Associate of Applied Science program is designed for students whose career goals are oriented toward design for mass media. Students will learn to produce design for publications, illustration, photography, public relations, presentations communications, web, and video. Students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in graphic design should consult an advisor to ensure this is the most appropriate degree for meeting their transfer goals.

*To participate in an Internship, students in 60‐credit degree programs must have already earned between 40 and 45 credits toward their degree or certificate program.

Graphic Design Certificate
The Graphic Design Certificate program is designed to provide the core skills needed to function in the fields of graphic communication, publishing, and web-based design. The challenging and rapidly changing world of visual communications requires creative problem solving using a combination of tools and techniques.

In hands-on classes, students solve design problems with instruction from active communications professionals, using hardware and software they will encounter in the workplace. College-level reading and writing is expected.

Frederick County Public School students are eligible to receive free tuition and fees through Dual Enrollment at FCC for some courses taken during Fall or Spring semesters. FCPS students participating in dual enrollment may obtain required textbooks and materials at the FCC bookstore at no cost to the student. Students should speak with their high school counselor first if they plan to enroll in FCC courses or programs.
