The FCC student-run restaurant, 200 Monroe, is now offering a gourmet three-course dinner experience available to the public on Thursday evenings.
“Dining at 200 Monroe offers community members a unique opportunity to be involved in our students’ learning while enjoying a gourmet meal at a reasonable cost,” said Elizabeth DeRose, Program Manager for the FCC Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute (HCTI). “We know many members of the public look forward to the opening of 200 Monroe each semester, and we love seeing our students showcasing their incredible culinary skills. It’s a win-win and we are thrilled to open again this fall.”
HCTI students participate in the running of the restaurant as part of their capstone learning experience. Students rotate between preparing food in the kitchen and serving guests in the dining room.
The restaurant will be open on Thursday evenings now through December 8, with the exception of November 24. Patrons are also able to order takeout.
The three-course dinner menu includes a starter, entrée, dessert, and beverage, for an all-inclusive price between $38 and $42.
Entrée options include:
- Idaho Rainbow Trout - Wild rice pilaf, lemon beurre blanc with capers, almonds, haricot verts
- Boeuf Bourguignon – Red wine braised beef, carrots, cipollini onions, potato puree
- Chicken Cordon Bleu– Crusted chicken breast with Gruyere cheese and Edwards country ham, heirloom carrots, Brussel sprouts, mustard cream sauce
- Paccheri Pasta – Eggplant ragu with roasted garlic marinara, fresh basil
The restaurant is also offering all-new desserts this fall, which include house-made donuts, Smith Island cake, warm seasonal fruit crisp, and vanilla bean crème brûlée.
The restaurant has received rave reviews from the Frederick News-Post and through OpenTable.
