Federal Pell Grant
Awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.

Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant
A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant(FSEOG) is a grant for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant
A grant that honors those in the U.S. armed forces who lost their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan after 9/11 by providing college funding to their children. Eligibility for this grant is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and specific requirements.

Federal Work Study Program
Federal Work Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student's course of study.

Federal Direct Loan Programs

  • Direct Subsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to help cover the costs of higher education at a college or career school.

  • Direct Unsubsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, but eligibility is not based on financial need.

  • Direct PLUS Loans are loans made to graduate or professional students and parents of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for education expenses not covered by other financial aid. Eligibility is not based on financial need, but a credit check is required. Borrowers who have an adverse credit history must meet additional requirements to qualify.

Third and beyond (each year) – FCC cannot process loans at this level. $7,500 - No more than $5,500 of this amount may be in subsidized loans. $12,500 – No more than $5,500 of this amount may be in subsidized loans.
Maximum Total Aggregate Debt from Stafford Loans to complete entire Undergraduate Degree $31,000No more than $23,000 of the amount may be in subsidized loans. $57,500   - No more than $23,000 of this amount may be in subsidized loans.
