FCC Restaurant 200 Monroe Named to Numerous Diners’ Choice Lists
The Frederick Community College student-run gourmet restaurant, 200 Monroe, has been named to numerous OpenTable Diners’ Choice lists for the month of April.
The Diners’ Choice lists recognize outstanding restaurants based on feedback from confirmed diners. The restaurant was named to the best overall, best value, fit for foodies, great for lunch, and best food lists. It was also recommended by 100% of diners.
Guests at 200 Monroe are treated to three-course meals prepared and served by students in the FCC Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute (HCTI).
“We are so pleased by the support we’ve received from the community for our students and the HCTI,” said Elizabeth DeRose, HCTI Manager. “The response is a credit to our students and the quality of teaching our instructors provide. We are working hard to expand the program so that the 200 Monroe Restaurant can be open each semester going forward.”
Menu items include Alsatian onion tart with smoked bacon, roasted wild mushroom herb manicotti, grilled steak kabob, dark chocolate flourless cake, and more. Proceeds from the restaurant support the HCTI program and student scholarships.
The HCTI students rotate between the restaurant’s kitchen and dining room. While in the kitchen, students work on a la carte food preparation, cooking, and plating techniques. While working the dining room, they learn various styles of table and beverage service with a focus on customer relations and timing of service.
The restaurant kicked off its sixth season on March 3 and is open on Fridays until May 5. The restaurant is open to the public for lunch, however online reservations are required and it has been booked for the remainder of this season.
