Fall Practice Schedule and Running/Throwing Plan

Head Coach: Andy Taylor A 2004 graduate of FCC, Andy Taylor returned to campus in 2009 to take over the Cougars' Softball program. He was a two-year starter for the FCC Baseball team and then moved on to Fairmont State University, where he started in the outfield and was a captain for the Falcons and twice made the Dean's List. He lettered in football, wrestling and baseball at Urbana High and coached the Urbama American Legion Baseball team in 2008-09. Andy is a Certified Personal Trainer and a Special Education Teaching Assistant at Waverley Elementary School in Frederick. He lives in Frederick with his wife Shannon, a teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools and an Assistant Coach at FCC, and their daughter Brooke.

Three State Champions Highlight FCC Softball's 2012 Recruiting Class

Cady Baer of Maryland 2A Champion Catoctin and Dava Gray and Emily Downs of 4A Champion Urbana and six all-area talents highlight the 2012 recruiting class for Frederick Community College Softball. The 12-member class will be celebrated with a Letter Of Intent Signing Ceremony on Tuesday June 21st at 12 Noon in Room D-126 of the FCC Field House.

With his first full recruiting season behind him, Head Coach Andy Taylor is pleased with the players who have chosen FCC. “The 2012 recruiting class brings together great players from the tri state area, including talents from Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland. This group is a great mix of talented players and students and terrific young women. I look forward to working with all of them and continuing to build a winning attitude here at FCC."

Director of Athletics Dr. Tom Jandovitz is pleased as well. "I am very excited to see such a large number of talented players signing with the FCC softball program. With these players joining our returners from last year we are looking forward to an exciting and winning season in 2012" Several members of the class have received regional and area honors. Baer is a First-Team All-Area selection along with Destiny Powers of Brunswick and Holly Gemar of Frederick. IF Alex Boher of Westfield High in Centreville, VA is a First-Team All-Region selection. P/OF Krysta Fuller joins the team from Clarion (PA) High School, where she was First-Team All-Area, and Ivy Overton of Liberty High earned First-Team All-Carroll County honors.

Fall practice will begin the first week of September and the 2012 schedule is being finalized.
