Frederick Community College is holding an open house for its new logistics and production technology short-term workforce programs on Wednesday, September 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. Note: due to weather, this event has been postponed until Wednesday, September 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“The logistics and production technology program at FCC will provide strong workforce training opportunities for our community members and a trained pipeline for our local employers in numerous, in-demand industries,” said Dr. Kathi Groover, Career and Technical Training Program Manager. “We are excited to hold this open house to introduce the new program to our entire community.”

The program has three different tracks – supply chain, biotechnology systems and maintenance, and manufacturing – that prepare students for a successful career in that industry. Some students may choose to take one track, while others may want to take all three to broaden their experience and job potential. These are non-credit offerings that provide a foundation for industry jobs or the pursuit of advanced training.

Prospective students, employers, and community members are invited to attend the open house, which will be held at the FCC Monroe Center, located at 200 Monroe Avenue in Frederick. Participants will have the opportunity to meet program staff, learn about the FCC Monroe Center, explore the lab, and review upcoming course options.

During the event, remarks will be given by Dr. Thomas Powell, interim president of FCC; Dr. Tony Hawkins, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs, Continuing Education, and Workforce Development; and Jodie Bollinger, director of business retention and expansion for the Frederick County Office of Economic Development.

All attendees are required to wear a mask at the event.
