Thomas ("Tom") E. Lynch, III, principal at Miles & Stockbridge, has been appointed to the Frederick Community College Board of Trustees by Gov. Larry Hogan.

Lynch will serve the remainder of the term left vacant when former Trustee Timothy Wesolek moved out of state. Lynch’s term will run until July 2020.

“I am thrilled to become a part of the team at FCC, joining a group of remarkable and committed colleagues,” Lynch said. “Through my years of involvement with the Frederick Chamber of Commerce, I became increasingly cognizant of the importance of enhancing the dialogue and collaboration between business and education. FCC plays a critical role in the education equation for this region, not only for our high school graduates but also for those pursuing a second or additional career or simply pursuing an interest in life-long education.”  

Lynch has been a partner and then principal of Miles & Stockbridge for more than 30 years. He has represented industry, businesses, financial institutions, non-profits, and individuals on a wide range of matters, including general business counseling, litigation, litigation avoidance, environmental litigation, and counseling. He also has been involved for years as a neutral in dispute resolution, including serving as a mediator and arbitrator.

Lynch is also known for his broad knowledge and experience on ethics issues. He has participated as a member of the Maryland State Bar Ethics Committee since 1990 and serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of the Maryland Professionalism Center, Inc., a board appointed by the Maryland Court of Appeals. Lynch has also served on the Board of Directors for both the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce and the Frederick County YMCA. He is a current member of the Board of the Community Foundation of Frederick County.

Lynch lives in Frederick with his wife Karlys Kline. Both are involved in a wide range of community-building activities.
