Music is in The Air This Spring at FCC!

The spring is a busy time for many of the Frederick Community College musical groups as they host end of semester performances.

"The FCC Music Department has so many talented ensembles that have been working hard all semester to perfect their craft,” said Jennifer Rundlett, Music Program Manager. “For people who are looking for a musical outlet, these ensemble concerts are an excellent way to check out performance opportunities available at FCC for both students and community members.”

April 9
“A Night at the Museum,” Flute Choir, 7:30 p.m., Jack B. Kussmaul Theater 
Directed by Jennifer Rundlett
FCC’s Flute Choir will present a multi-media performance featuring music from “Amadeus,” Modest Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition,” and Felix Mendelssohn's “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Special guest Devin Gaither from the Maryland Ensemble Theater will read as “Puck” from Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” 
Free admission.


April 23
“Frank Sinatra’s Songbook,” Jazz Ensemble, 7:30 p.m., Jack B. Kussmaul Theater
Directed by Howard Burns
The popular FCC Jazz Ensemble with special guest Shawn Dennison will re-create jazz standard favorites.
General admission: $12 Adults. $10 Students and Seniors. Free to FCC students and staff with ID. Tickets may be purchased at the Theater Box Office the evening of the performance.
 

April 28
“Basie, Blues and Bop,” Improvisational Jazz II Ensemble, 7:30 p.m., Jack B. Kussmaul Theater
Directed by Anita Thomas
FCC’s Improvisational Jazz II Ensemble will play swinging, grooving, and toe-tapping tunes from the 1930s to the 1950s.

May 8
“E Pluribus Unum - Out of the Many, One” Wind Ensemble, 7:30 p.m., Jack B. Kussmaul Theater 
Directed by Aaron Lovely and Lynn Staininger 
The FCC Wind Ensemble will join forces with Choral Arts Society of Frederick for an evening of music filled with the sounds and spirit of our nation. The concert will feature the music of John Williams, Peter Wilhousky, and more. ​
Free admission.


May 14
"Spring Romance” String Ensemble, 7:30 p.m. Studio Theater
Directed by Lynn Fleming 
The FCC Spring Ensemble will present an evening of romance, featuring music from Felix Mendelssohn, Elvis Presley, Samuel Barber, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
