Frederick Community College students are invited to apply for the 8^th Annual Business Plan Contest, which provides the opportunity to win scholarship money from M&T Bank.

During the contest, students present a business plan to a panel of judges in a format similar to the popular TV show “Shark Tank.” Judges then select the first, second, and third place winners, who receive scholarships in the amount of $2,500, $1,500, or $1,000, respectively. Scholarship prizes may be used at FCC or a transfer college.

The contest, sponsored by M&T Bank and the FCC Foundation, will be held virtually this year.

“We are grateful to M&T Bank and the FCC Foundation for making this fun and exciting contest possible every year,” said FCC President Elizabeth Burmaster. “Over the last eight years, M&T Bank has provided thousands of dollars in scholarship money for our students. We thank them for recognizing the power of higher education and for helping our students reach their academic and career goals.”

All currently enrolled FCC students are invited to develop a business plan and apply for the contest. The timeline for the contest is below.

• To be eligible for the contest, students must complete this online application by March 26.
• The final written plans must be submitted online by April 16.
• The three finalists will be notified by April 23.
• The final presentations will be held on Wednesday, April 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom or alternate online option. All finalists will be consulted in advance to ensure access to technology.

Individuals and teams of two students can enter. Teams will split scholarship awards equally.
