FCC Student-Run Restaurant Opens to the Public for Lunch

The Frederick Community College student-run restaurant, 200 Monroe, will be open to the public for “Lunch Express” service on Wednesdays from April 17 to May 8, 2019.

The Lunch Express will provide customers with a “build-a-bowl” concept that includes a choice of base, protein, side salads, dressing, and other offerings like soup, cookies, and drinks. Customers can eat in the dining room at one of our community tables or take their lunch to go.

The 200 Monroe Restaurant provides a capstone learning experience for students in the Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute (HCTI). Students gain experience in all aspects of working at a restaurant, including all steps of food preparation and restaurant service.

Build a bowl – $8.99, all options served with herbed Italian bread
 
Step 1 – choose a base
  1. Arcadian mixed greens
  2. Brown rice and orzo pilaf 
Step 2 – choose a protein
  1. Grilled chicken breast
  2. Lamb meatballs
  3. Grilled salmon 
Step 3 – Add your favorites
  1. Citrus slaw
  2. Pickled cauliflower
  3. Tomato and olive salad
  4. Roasted vegetables
  5. Lentil pomegranate salad
  6. Creamy cucumber dill salad
  7. House rye croutons 
Step 4 – dress it up
  1. Monroe vinaigrette
  2. Creamy buttermilk dressing
  3. Roasted red pepper dressing
