Frederick Community College is the Community’s College!
Our Board of Trustees, Foundation Board Directors, and employees work tirelessly to help students achieve their career dreams and realize their full potential. We see firsthand how education transforms students’ lives and know the difference it can make for their families too. Your generous financial support helps us to do this important work. Together, we are a team committed to student success!
For many of our students, financial need is the biggest barrier to a college education. Scholarships and emergency funds help our students stay in school to complete their programs, certificates, or degrees. When a student transfers to a baccalaureate program prepared for the more rigorous coursework or achieves a credential and is hired for a position that pays life-sustaining wages, it means we have done our job!
FCC is a workforce development catalyst. With your support, we can exponentially meet the needs of our community’s workforce. This is a community legacy-building experience. On behalf of the many hardworking FCC students like Sarah and George, please consider a gift this year supporting scholarships and emergency needs so together we can create a brighter future for them, their families, and the community of Frederick County.

Sarah Kreh is thriving as a second-year honors student. The decision to attend FCC- a local and affordable option for her family- meant she could keep her job as a Registered Behavior Technician while earning her associate degree, enabling Sarah to save more money for when she plans to transfer to a four-year college.
Sarah is an honors peer mentor and president of the Honors Student Association. She is passionate about helping other students be successful in the honors program. Thanks to the Frank and Helen Erwin Scholarship and an Honors scholarship she received, the cost of Sarah’s tuition, fees, and books are covered.
These scholarships have been critical to Sarah’s success. The financial support has allowed her to dedicate more time to her studies and to serve others as an honors peer mentor. “I love the Honors program at FCC,” said Sarah.
“In my second year, I became a peer mentor. By having scholarships that allow me to focus on school, I can use my time to help the community and help support other members of the Honors College.”

George Frangiadakis was working as a nursing assistant at a hospital in Baltimore when, due to COVID, he decided to move to Frederick. He had enjoyed working with patients so much that he decided to begin nursing school.
A first-generation college student, George wasn’t receiving any aid and was a student worker in the Admissions Office when he started at FCC. Working in Admissions, he quickly learned that he should apply for scholarships.
Thanks to the Grace Engelbrecht Memorial Nursing Scholarship and the Loats Scholarship he received, George has been able to stop working while he completes the rigorous nursing program at FCC. He now has enough time to dedicate five hours a day to coming to campus to meet with classmates and study.
“When I first started college after high school, I had no financial support and didn’t do well,” said George. “I was working full time and was focused on the money, not on school, which put a strain on my initial experience.”
George is in the associate-to-bachelor’s program, which means he is working to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Towson University while simultaneously completing his associate degree at FCC. This time around, he is able to keep school a top priority.
“The scholarship I received has given me the opportunity to focus on school, be able to come to campus more, and put my mind on that instead of worrying about where the money is going to come from,” said George.
