MSS Vision
The Multicultural Student Services Program will provide the most innovative and effective student support strategies to ensure the successful transition, retention, graduation, transfer and academic performance of all participants.

MSS Mission
Provide a comprehensive academic and social development support program that addresses the academic and career needs of a diverse student population.  The program will utilize a holistic model of 5 key elements to develop successful students:  Set high academic standards, provide leadership training, participate in community outreach, expose students to dynamic cross cultural experiences and provide a culturally mediated academic support system.

Goals
The MSS program will …

  1. Set High Academic Standards
    • Enroll students in honors courses
    • Enroll students in honors program
    • Encourage full-time enrollment
    • Determine major and career goal by the end of first year
    • Set 2.0 GPA as the academic minimum performance
  2. Develop Leadership Skills
    • Leadership retreats
    • Peer mentors
    • Leadership positions inside gender based support  programs (Big 6, Elite 8)
  3. Provide Cross Cultural Experiences
    • Cultural luncheons
    • Study abroad opportunities
    • Cultural fieldtrips
  4. Involve Students in Community Outreach Opportunities
    • Community service projects
  5. Have All Students Participate in Culturally Mediated Academic Support System
    • Group advising
    • Mentoring/Peer Mentoring/Group Mentoring
    • MSS  office activities and discussions
