Math Learning Center
Meet Our Faculty
Whether he's teaching developmental math or integral calculus, Bill Quinn sees math and test anxiety at every level.
Mathematics isn't necessarily a natural human endeavor," he allows. "Students today want an instructor who understands how hard it is to do the things that math asks of them."
Reflecting on a teaching career that began in 1969, he notes, "When I arrived at FCC in 1993, I brought lots of energy and enthusiasm to the job and my student evaluations suggest I still have that. Over the years I've developed a more empathetic teaching style that's focused on understanding my students as individuals.
I'm interested in what motivates them, what concerns them, and how they can conquer their math anxieties.
Bill's developmental approach nurtures minds and shapes positive behaviors, resulting in students better prepared for success in the world that awaits.
I try to create a friendly atmosphere so that students can be themselvesÑalmost like being at home without focusing on math ability. I believe this approach promotes achieving, and there's nothing like success to bolster one's self-esteem."
