Academic, Application and Financial Requirements

To qualify as a candidate for a degree of associate of arts, sciences, teaching, applied sciences, or certificate, you must complete all courses required in the curriculum. Alternative courses, other than those specifically required, must be approved by the department chair and the registrar.

To graduate, you must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0. A.A.T. students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.

If your overall grade point average equals or exceeds 3.5, you will graduate “with honors.” If your overall grade point average equals or exceeds 3.75, you will graduate “with high honors.” Certificate students who earn a 3.75 in their program will graduate with distinction. All honors designations will be printed on the diploma or certificate. Students receiving honors/high honors will be given gold tassels to wear in lieu of green ones; they will be distributed at commencement rehearsal.

If you transfer credits from another college to fulfill requirements for graduation at FCC, you must have your transcript(s) on file in the Welcome & Registration Center by March 30.

If you wish to be considered for May graduation, you must apply to graduate by March 30. To apply, sign on to your PeopleSoft account - choose Student Center. In "Academics" click on the drop down for "Other Academics" and select apply for graduation. All associate and certificate candidates are eligible for graduation. Letter of Recognition (LOR) recipients do not participate in the ceremony.

There is no charge for graduation. All graduation fees have been covered by the fees you pay each semester prior to graduation.

You must satisfy all financial obligations (tuition balances, parking tickets, library fines, etc.) prior to receiving your diploma.

If you are a Federal Stafford Student Loan recipient and you are graduating or transferring, you must complete the required exit loan counseling at StudentLoans.gov. Follow the instructions for exit loan counseling. If you have questions regarding your loan history, contact the Financial Aid Office.
