Head Coach: Monique Tompkins
Monique Tompkins enters her second season as Frederick Community College excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Tompkins replaced long-time coach Jack Mehl in 2010 and led the team to a 25-6 record and the runner-up spot in NJCAA Region XX.
Four of her 2010 sophomores will continue their careers at 4-year institutions and replacing players like Second-Team All-American Kristine Mial (signed with East Carolina) and All-Region XX performer Priscilla
Moseh (Shepherd University) will not be easy. Tompkins is confident that the newcomers will continue the progress made last year. "We're all eager to build on last year's success."
Tompkins attended Cheyney State University and US International University and coached at Walter Johnson High School before joining the Cougar staff in 2009, where she concentrated on developing the team's post players.
Says Tompkins; "I've played and coached at a high level, and I think I know what it takes to be successful. We're looking to compete for Maryland JUCO and Region XX Championships and hope to return to the National Tournament."
Tompkins will be joined on the Cougar bench by Tod Muollo and Dana Shook, who coached in 2010-11, and newcomer Dave Smith.
