The FCC Adult Education Program provides Adult Basic Education (ABE), Pre-GED®, GED® Preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes as well
as the External Diploma Program (EDP). Classes are available to all Maryland residents at least sixteen years of age and in need of a high school diploma

The Career & Transfer Center staff promotes and assists students with effective career and transfer planning. The major function of the Career
& Transfer Center is to help students/participants recognize individual attributes which contribute to career and transfer planning and decision making;
research suitable career opportunities in today's workforce based on individual attributes: interests, personality, skills, and values; research suitable
transfer opportunities based on individual attributes and specific criteria wanted in a school; learn how to develop career and transfer goals and take steps
necessary to reach those goals; realize steps and strategies for gaining valuable work experience, writing effective résumé, mastering job interview techniques,
and finding and keeping a job; and realize steps and strategies for planning a successful transfer to another educational institution. |

Offers family support, education, and employment services to parents with children under 4 years old, expectant parents, and youth (14 to 21). Services
include high school completion classes (Flexible High School Satellite services and GED preparation); employability classes in conjunction with Frederick
County Workforce Services; and computer related instruction. Services are free. Some employability/education services require documentation relating to
medical insurance, income, age, residence, and others. Orientations for new participants are scheduled one on one.

services, and application assistance. Telephone banks and fax services are available for clients' use, as well as copier services. Also provides access
to MWE, an automated system that matches applicants' job skills with job openings. Job fairs are held periodically and are open to the public, whether
unemployed or seeking career advancement. Offers in-house GED preparation and assistance with other barriers to employment, volunteer work activities,

As one of the nation's One-Stop Career Centers, Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) links businesses in need of qualified employees with
individuals seeking employment opportunities. For job seekers, FCWS provides comprehensive career management services, including career assessment and
vocational counseling, computer and job search seminars, assistance with résumé and interview preparation, career training scholarships, and access to
hundreds of current job listings through the Maryland Workforce Exchange and the EmployOn, Inc. employment portal. For businesses, FCWS utilizes
innovative strategies to help identify and achieve recruitment, retention and training goals. Services for businesses include placement assistance, job
listing opportunities, customized employee training, access to funding for training, outplacement services, use of onsite facilities, and on-the-job
training programs for new hires. Frederick County Workforce Services supports the County's revenue base by helping unemployed workers to re-enter the
local workforce and become contributing tax payers again. FCWS also utilizes grant funding to provide occupational training in high-demand industries to
help alleviate critical skills shortages in the current and future labor market. |

Goodwill provides employment, computer training, support services, and vocational rehabilitation to people with disabilities and barriers to
employment who reside in Frederick or Carroll Counties. Services include vocational day services (employment for individuals with developmental
disabilities in an integrated work environment); supported employment (community employment with ongoing support); work adjustment training (employment
readiness program); job coaching (support offered at the employment site); and job placement (assistance helping individuals find jobs in the community).
Goodwill also offers basic computer, Microsoft Word and Excel training, and English as a Second Language (ESL) training.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is available for both public housing and Section 8 housing residents. The FSS Program is based on educational goals
which assist the family in becoming self-sufficient. While in the program, as the earned income of the family increases, an escrow account is established
and earns money each month. Upon successful completion of the program, the family receives the escrow money which could be used as down payment on a home
or however the family chooses. Average starting earned income is less than $5,000. Average earned income upon graduation is $31,200. Escrow amounts have
ranged from $4,495 to $21,389. While in the program, participants receive encouragement, problem solving, feedback, and mentoring. |

Project ALIVE (Altering Lives with Independence, Vision & Empowerment) and Community Support Services assist public housing residents in realizing
their education and employment goals. The programs include opportunities for training, education, childcare, transportation, and job search assistance.
Project ALIVE's office is located in the Sagner housing development and serves anyone residing in Lincoln, Carver, or Sagner who is interested in moving
forward through education and employment. CSS serves residents of North Market and South Carroll housing communities and is located at the Bernard Brown
Community Center. Project ALIVE and CSS work closely with the Office of Adult Services at Frederick Community College, where students receive academic
advising, help with scheduling, and a wide range of academic supports. |

The Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Projects provide all SSA beneficiaries with disabilities (including transition-to-work aged youth)
access to work incentives planning and assistance services. The goal of the WIPA Projects is to better enable SSA's beneficiaries with disabilities to
make informed choices about work. Each WIPA Project has Community Work Incentive Coordinators (CWIC) who will provide work incentives planning and
assistance to SSA's beneficiaries with disabilities; will conduct outreach efforts to those beneficiaries who are potentially eligible to participate in
Federal or State work incentives programs; and will work in cooperation with Federal, State, and private agencies, and nonprofit organizations that serve
beneficiaries with disabilities. The CWIC will come to Frederick County to meet with individuals who receive a disability check from Social Security. |

A non-profit volunteer organization which provides free tutoring for American-born adults with reading difficulties and foreign-born adults who want
help learning to speak and read English. Tutoring takes place at a time and place mutually convenient for the tutor and student. Most tutoring is
one-to-one. There are also some small group ESL classes for those learning English. Students pay for their workbooks if they are able. Volunteer
tutors receive free training prior to being matched with a student. |

The Kids on the Block Puppet Troupe (KOB) provides educational puppet programs addressing social issues which children face in today's society.
Programs include child abuse prevention, drug abuse education, adjusting to divorce, mental health issues, bullies and school safety, and
multiculturalism. The Youth Education Outreach program offers educational programs for public schools and community groups on stress and anger management
for teens, home safety, conflict resolution, and dealing with bullies for children in elementary and secondary grades. Some fees may apply. |

The Office of Adult Services in the Student Development Area at Frederick Community College offers a variety of services for adults. Designed to ease
the transition into the classroom for those who are returning to begin or complete a degree, acquire marketable skills, or retrain for a new career, the
office offers information and referrals to college and community resources, workshops on topics of interest for adult students, and special services for
single parents, displaced homemakers, and other adults in transition. The Office of Adult Services offers the following programs:
Project Forward Step
Project Forward Step is a counseling, information, and referral program designed to meet the needs of returning adult students. Program services are
designed to help individuals increase and upgrade skills leading to employment or a career change. Services provided include intake interview and needs
assessment; career counseling and academic advisement; support during transition; workshops for adult students; referral to college and community
services; financial assistance with tuition, books, child care, and transportation to qualified single parents and displaced homemakers; job placement
referrals.
Women's Center
The Office of Adult Services and the Frederick County Commission for Women entered into a partnership to develop a women's center program. The Women's
Center provides Frederick County residents with a centralized place to access information about and referrals to community resources and services, attend
workshops and join support groups, and be exposed to social and professional networking opportunities. The Anne-Lynn Gross Breast Cancer Resource Center
provides access to information related to breast cancer, including conventional and alternative treatment, prevention, emotional impact, and nutrition.
The Woman to Woman Mentoring Program is an intergenerational program to assist Frederick County women ages 18 to 29 who desire personal and
professional guidance. Woman to Woman Mentoring provides young women with a supportive relationship that gives them the opportunity to learn, grow, and
achieve personal success. |
