STARS Online Scholarship Tracking and Review System
Important information you must know to submit a FCC Foundation scholarship application through the STARS Online system.
- You must use Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher to access the system. Other browsers do not support the STARS Online system.
- Your Internet Explorer must allow pop-ups. For instruction on how to allow pop-ups, click here.
- Your system must enable cookies. For instruction on how to enable cookies, click here.

FCC reserves the right to adjust and/or cancel your award if it is subsequently determined that you do not meet the qualifications for the scholarship.
All scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds.
These scholarships are for enrollment at FCC only.
If you are offered a scholarship, it will not be posted to your student account until a thank you note is received in the Office of Institutional Advancement, A202. Your presence will be expected at the annual Donor/Scholar event in the spring 2013.
Before you apply:
- Please obtain your FCC student ID number, if you don’t already have one. This number was assigned to you when you applied for admission to FCC. If you don’t have a student ID number, come into the Welcome and Registration Center with a photo identification card to apply to the College and receive a student ID number.
- If you are applying for scholarships that are financial need based, make sure you complete and submit your FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov).
- You need to know your current major and degree program (AA, AS, AAS AAT or Certificate).
- Please use your current GPA on your application; we will update your GPA with the spring semester grades before your application is reviewed for fall 2012 scholarships.
- Please read all instructions before starting your application. These instructions can be printed and used as a reference as you complete your application.
STARS Online homepage
- Students can access the STARS Online Tracking and Review Scholarship application by https://scholarships.frederick.edu/stars/
- The first time you enter the STARS Online system, click START HERE to create your account. Once your user name and password are entered, click submit to edit your information, not "Start Here" or you will not be able to access any previously entered information.
- It is very important to provide a valid email address (FCC-provided email address or a home email address) on your application. Your logon credentials will be sent to this address. All scholarship award letters and other communications will be sent to your email address so please make sure you provide a valid address. Make sure the emails from scholarships.frederick.edu has not been blocked or filtered as junk email. For instructions on how to unblock emails, please check with your email carriers.
- Once you enter your Username and Password (your choice), keep a record of the Username and Password so you can re-enter STARS Online at any time.
- Please note that after you have established your account with STARS Online, you may “save and exit” at any time. You may complete or edit your application up to the application deadline.
- Your first step will be to complete the Personal Information section of the application. Make sure all information provided is accurate as some scholarships are awarded based on the information you enter here.
- Make sure you frequently “save and continue” during completion of your application. (Saving your information frequently will protect you in case you are timed out of the program.)
- If you are unable to complete your application at one time, make sure you click on “save and exit” so you can return later to your application.
- Your next step is completing the Opening Questionnaire; read each question carefully before answering (this information is used to determine the scholarships for which you may be eligible). Additional questions will appear as you click on your answers. Then save and continue to move to the Academic Information section.
- When you click “save and continue”, all required fields must be completed. If you are unsure of the answers, you have two options:
- Enter any answer, click “save and continue” to proceed through the application process, then obtain the information and return at a later time to enter the correct information, OR
- Click “save and exit,” obtain the information, and complete the application at a later date.
- Complete the academic information. Read the instructions at the beginning of each section. Exp. Degree options are AAS, AAT, AA, AS or Certificate. Different majors are listed under each degree option. You will need to click on the appropriate degree option and then click the drop down in *Major area of study or program to find your major or certificate. Earned credits mean the number of credits you have earned including the current semester.
- The next section is the Free Form Essay Questions; carefully read the instructions at the beginning of the section. You must answer the entire question.
It is a good idea to complete the essay questions in Word, spell and grammar check your answers, then copy and paste your essay from Word to the appropriate section. If you type your essay directly into the section, you may be timed out of the system. You can click “save and exit” to exit STARS, complete your essay in Word then return to STARS and paste it in. The answers to your essay questions are very important and will be carefully read and scored by the reviewers to determine scholarship recipients.
- The final section is Scholarship Application-Recommended Scholarship Search. You must click on APPLY NOW (to the right) for each scholarship in which you are interested. The information you provide here will determine whether or not you meet the minimum requirements. Carefully read all instructions and statements including the criteria listed under the scholarship name. You must meet all scholarship requirements that are not listed as preference or priority. If a scholarship also includes preference or priority criteria, then you will receive additional points for having that preference or priority; however, you may still receive the scholarship without having the preference or priority attributes. Please answer the extra essay, if required, whether or not you have that preference or priority.
The information provided here is the information reviewers will view and score, so please make sure you check the box that indicates you meet the criteria. Please read and check the three boxed statements. When you finish with your application, click on APPLY NOW.
You may update or edit your application until the deadline, May 31, 2012 at 12 noon. You will be notified of any awards for fall starting in August. Awards will not be credited to your account until a thank you note is received in the Office of Institutional Advancement, A202.
