The Spring Student Juried Show
05/05/2014
The Mary Condon Hodgson Art Gallery will hold an opening reception for FCC’s Visual Arts Department’s Student Juried Show on May 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Judging will be conducted by artist Jamie Grubby. Announcement of winners begins promptly at 11:45 a.m.

The show will feature more than 100 pieces of student artwork produced in FCC classes.

Mediums include drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, fundamentals of design, watercolor, illustration, digital photography, and computer graphics.

Each medium will be judged separately and prizes will be awarded for First Place, Second Place, and Honorable Mention. The top award is the Judge’s Choice, which recognizes the best piece in the entire show. An invited, independent judge will rank the artwork for awards.

Grubby, a Frederick local, is an illustrator and painter whose work includes portraits, watercolors, mixed media, and abstracts. After graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A in Illustration, Grubby returned to her hometown of Frederick, Md., where she currently teaches classes at the Griffin Art Center.

Refreshments will be provided at the opening reception by Natoma Reed-Vargas.  Student artwork will remain on display through June 4.

Admission is free. For more information contact Wendell Poindexter or 301-846-2513.
