Students to Compete for Scholarships in Third Annual Business Plan Contest
03/11/2016
Frederick Community College will host its third annual Business Plan Contest next month, which will give five student finalists the opportunity to compete for scholarships provided by M&T Bank.

All currently enrolled FCC students are invited to develop a complete business plan that will be evaluated by a panel of local business leaders. From those applicants, five finalists will be chosen to present their plan to a panel of business experts, similar to the popular ABC show, “Shark Tank.”

The business experts will name the first, second, and third place winners, who will receive scholarships that can be used at FCC or to further their education at another college or university.

First place - $1,500 scholarship

Second place - $1,000 scholarship

Third place - $500 scholarship

“This is a great opportunity for our students to use their creativity and innovation and get the real-world experience of presenting and promoting their original ideas,” said Marty Crabbs, program manager for the FCC Business Program. “We are very grateful to M&T Bank for generously providing these scholarship prizes for the third year in a row to reward our student entrepreneurs.”

Students who wish to enter the contest must complete an online application by March 25. Final business plans are due by April 11. Finalists will be selected and notified by April 21.

The contest will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 in the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater on campus.

Individuals and teams of up to four students can enter. Teams will split any prizes equally.

The event is free and open to the public.
