FCC Announces Transfer Agreement with L’Academie de Cuisine

The Maryland Higher Education Commission recently approved a transfer agreement between Frederick Community College and L ‘Academie de Cuisine (LAC) in Gaithersburg. With the agreement, graduates of the L’ Academie de Cuisine can earn up to 20 credits toward their associate degree in culinary supervision at FCC.

“We are pleased to enter this partnership with our colleagues in Montgomery County,” said Jon Kimbrough, program manager of FCC’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute. “Our program is an excellent choice for graduates of the Academie who have a certificate and want to earn their associate degree.”

Francois Dionot, founder and director of L’Academie stated, “This opportunity is an additional benefit for our students who want to get a degree in culinary arts and work in fine dining restaurants while they learn the business side of Hospitality Management.” Graduates of L'Academie's professional culinary arts program can attend FCC and receive 20 credits toward a certificate in Hospitality Management, which they can apply toward an Associate of Culinary Supervision in Hospitality Management.

The culinary arts courses offered in FCC’s program – housed in the college’s Monroe Center off campus – focus on a wide range of advanced topics including controlling cost, food and beverage management, event planning, and supervision.

Graduates of FCC’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute qualify for advanced opportunities as lead cooks and kitchen supervisors in restaurants, hotels, resorts, catering operations and other establishments. Many students choose to pursue their bachelor’s degrees through Johnson & Wales University and other culinary institutions.
