FCC Students to Host Presentation on Charter Government

Two student groups at Frederick Community College will host a presentation on a proposed charter government for Frederick County on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The event in Rooms H-202/203 in the Classroom Student Center is free and open to the public. The proposed change in the makeup of county government will be on the November ballot, and the Charter Education Coalition has been giving presentations to community groups to educate citizens. FCC’s Business Club and United Political Club are co-hosting the event. “It is important for our students and the community to understand the pros and cons of such legislation,” said faculty member and club sponsor Dave Hickman. “It’s important for citizens of all ages to know the issues and to participate in the political process. An educated electorate makes for a stronger and healthier political discourse.” For more information contact Dave Hickman at dhickman@frederick.edu.
