FCC Web Site Redesign Progress

We are continuing to work hard on the redesign of FCC's web site. Thank you to the students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members who have already provided valuable feedback. We are incorporating these ideas and suggestions as we move through the redesign process. Here is some information we've collected that you may find interesting:

-Most people who responded said they visit FCC's web site either daily or weekly.

-Of those who responded, 68% of students say the current site is easy to use; 75% of alumni say it's easy to use; 40% of community members say it's easy to use.

-Faculty/staff were asked if there is information they know students have trouble finding on the current site. 78% of those who responded said yes. Information that faculty/staff report students have difficulty finding includes: children's center, bookstore, disability services, transcript request, payment information and deadlines, academic dates, admission application, writing center, problems accessing myFCC/Peoplesoft/Blackboard, information on Monroe Ave and Mount Airy Center, accessing grades, program information, and campus calendar.

-New features/information that were suggested for the redesigned web site include: animation/improved graphics, easier navigation, inclusion of off-campus community events in calendar, more information on courses and programs, a link to the bookstore on the home page, online registration for personal enrichment classes, live chat feature, information on what's happening in H building, better search engine, more user-friendly email, alphabetized menu selections, head shots of faculty/staff in the directory, video testimonials from students and faculty, transit schedule, and a more mobile-friendly site.

We are working with our vendor to address these items as we develop the new layout and design for the site. Our goal is to make the new web site as innovative, informational and user-friendly as possible, and we thank you all for your continued support.
