Welcome New President Dr. F.J. Talley!

July 1 marks Dr. F. J. Talley's first official week as FCC's new president.

It was announced in March that our board of trustees had named Dr. Talley as FCC’s next president. Talley, who most recently served as vice president and dean of the College of Southern Maryland’s Leonardtown Campus, was one of three finalists who interviewed with the board and met with faculty, staff and students.

"Our board was very impressed with Dr. Talley’s experience in higher education, his strong communication skills and interactions with the trustees and campus community, and his vision and goals for our campus’s future,” said Dixie Miller, chair of the board of trustees and the search committee.

Students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to attend a "meet and greet" with Dr. Talley in April in FCC's Cougar Grille.

Dr. Talley is the college’s eighth president. Doug Browning, vice president for administration, served as interim president when former President Dr. Carol Eaton left last summer to become president of Daytona State College.

Duval Sweadner was FCC’s first president from 1957-1967, followed by Dr. Lewis Stephens (1967-78), Dr. Lewis Turner (1978-79), Dr. Jack Kussmaul (1979-86), Dr. Lee Betts (1986-97), Dr. Patricia Stanley (1998-2005), and Dr. Eaton (2005-2011).
