New Business Economics Faculty Join FCC

The Frederick Community College Business/Economics program is pleased to announce the addition of two new full time faculty members – Dr. Susan McMaster and Larry Devan. 
 
“These two outstanding faculty members are excellent and experienced teachers, with strong technology and communications skills,” said Marty Crabbs, business program manager and search committee chair. “They both bring significant real world business experience into the classroom.”
 
Dr. Susan McMaster comes to FCC from University of Phoenix where she taught economics and business full time for ten years and served as chair of the business program. She has extensive experience teaching in both online and face to face formats, having taught over 130 course sections.  McMaster also worked for more than seven years as an economist/consultant for the private sector and the Federal Communications Commission, specializing in the telecommunications industry.  She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois.  She also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Arizona State University.
 
Larry Devan comes to FCC from Hood College where he has been a visiting professor of business in the graduate and undergraduate school of business and economics for the past seven years.  Additionally Devan has taught business, economics, and accounting as an adjunct faculty member at FCC for the past three years.  His teaching experience includes more than 120 course sections.  He has 30 years of business experience as a manager at Xerox, and Global IT program manager at Unisys.  Devan earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from Hood College. He is also certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Six Sigma Black Belt.
