Julie Gaver Visits FCC as Part of the Moving Mountains Speaker Series
01/29/2016
As part of the ongoing Moving Mountains speaker series, Frederick Community College will welcome Julie Gaver, professional speaker and owner of a training and consulting practice, on February 3.

The monthly series is designed to encourage teens and young adults to set the bar high in their professional choices, finances, relationships, and life ambitions. Each month, exceptional professionals share their stories and encourage teens to reach their potential.

The six-part series runs through April 2016 and features a half hour to 40-minute presentation, followed by a question and answer session. In this first year of the series, topics by presenters include keys to succeeding in life, expecting and overcoming obstacles, believing in yourself, following your passion, and transitioning into your career.

Gaver is the fourth speaker in the series. She will discuss positivity and attitude and offer tips on handling the stresses that come with school and life.

Gaver has been professionally speaking nationwide for the past 27 years. Her practice, Julie Gaver Training and Development, LCC, helps work environments improve attitude, teamwork, and communication. Gaver is also the author of the book series Must Love Shoes, which encourages readers to see the meaning, lesson, and humor in life’s seemingly ordinary moments.

She is most proud of her annual garden charity event “Soles of Love in the Garden” which has distributed approximately 2,300 pairs of new shoes and 140 pairs of winter boots to local children in need.

She graduated with honors from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. She earned a Master’s Degree in Instructional Systems Development from UMBC in Baltimore.

Other upcoming speakers include Bob Viti (March 2) and Matthew Lesko (April 13).

All events are held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater, located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center. They are free and open to the public.
