Follow These Steps to Enroll as a Visiting Student:

Take a class at FCC while you’re on break to transfer back to your four-year college/university. It’s less expensive and will move you closer to your degree at your native institution.
 
Before applying for admission please review these steps to ensure the classes you complete transfer back to your four year college or university.
 
 
 
Step 1: Make a note of important deadlines.
 
Step 2: Apply to the college.
- if you are a returning visiting student who has not attended FCC in the past two years, or
- if you are a first-time visiting student;
 
·   Returning Visiting Students:
Apply to the college and see Step 3.
If you were an Open Campus student or have not attended FCC in the past two years, you will need to fill out the application for admission.  Your admission letter and ID number will be mailed to your permanent address.
 
Apply online here or pick up a paper application from the Admissions Office, Enrollment Services Building, room J-101.
 
Please allow two business days between applying and registering for classes.

·   First-time students:
Apply to the college (see above) and create your FCC login and myFCC email account.

Your myFCC email account is the college’s official means of communicating with you, so check it daily for important announcements and for messages such as your student account summary (bill) and campus alerts. Your username and password are required to access your personal information such as grades. They are also required to use (log on to) computers on campus.

Use your myFCC email account for all FCC communications! If you email your instructor or advisor from a different email address, it may end up in their junk mail folder. Your question or message may never be read (or answered) if you send it from another email account.

 
 
Step 3: Obtain forms and transcripts.
- Obtain a “Permission to Enroll” form from your home college’s registrar’s office (or, in some cases, from your academic advisor), or
 
- Submit an unofficial transcript showing that you meet the prerequisites for the course you wish to take.
 
 
Step 4: Register for classes in one of the following ways:
 
 a. Email:
Send an email to Registration. Include:
- Your FCC ID number
- Course and index number for your desired class(es)
- Pdf copy of permission to enroll form from your home institution or unofficial transcript

If all prerequisites are satisfied for desired course(s), online registration permission will be entered and student will be notified via email at which time they may register online.
 
 b. Online:
Register online using our PeopleSoft system IF the required prerequisite has been stored in FCC’s records system.  Prerequisites are recorded when your official transcript has been evaluated, which means you would need to have an official transcript sent to FCC’s Welcome Center from your current or previous college/s. Transcript evaluation takes two to three weeks once FCC has received the transcript.  

e. Fax:
Send a fax to 301.624.2799.  Include:
-Your FCC ID number
-Email address
-Course and index number for your desired class(es)
-Copy of permission to enroll form from your home institution or unofficial transcript

If all prerequisites are satisfied for desired course(s), online registration permission will be entered and student will be notified via email at which time they may register online. 
 
d. In Person:
Register in person with your Permission to Enroll form and/or your unofficial transcripts showing you meet the prerequisites for the course/s you wish to take.
  
Contact the Welcome Center at 301.846.2430. To visit the Welcome Center, come to the Enrollment Services Building, J-101.

To consult with an FCC advisor call 301.846.2471 or 301.846.2625 TDD. When contacting the Counseling & Advising Office, have your FCC Student ID number available. The Counseling & Advising Office is located in the Enrollment Services Building, J-201.

Please include the student's email address.  If all prerequisites are satisfied for desired course(s), online registration permission will be entered and students will be notified via email at which time they may register online.
 
Please note- seats are not held/reserved. Students must register online or in-person to secure seats in courses.
Step 5: Pay your bill.

 
You may pay your tuition by cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express.)
 
You are responsible for paying for your classes by the end of the pre-registration period (the payment due date.)
 
Payment due dates are always listed in the opening pages of each class schedule (link to the deadlines page). Registrations not paid by the end of the pre-registration payment due date will be dropped to allow other students to fill seats in those classes.
 
After pre-registration ends, you must pay your tuition at the time you register for classes.
 
If you decide not to attend FCC, please withdraw from classes using the online system.
 
To pay online:
Log on to your FCC PeopleSoft account. Select Campus Finances/Make a Payment.  All major credit cards are accepted (Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express). 
 
To pay in person:
Visit the Student Accounts Office, Enrollment Services Building, J-119.

 

 
Step 6: Buy books.
Books for credit and noncredit courses are available at the FCC Bookstore in the Classroom/Student Center Building (H Building). Students may purchase books with cash, checks, and credit cards (Mastercard, Visa and Discover). Textbooks are available for purchase about three weeks before the start of each semester.
 
You can also visit the FCC Bookstore website to order books online, to verify information about the books and materials required for your courses, and to view buy-back hours at the end of the semester.
 
You can also purchase your books from any bookseller. Check the college’s Bookstore website to make sure you have the correct edition and all supporting materials.

Step 7: After you have completed your course/s, request an FCC transcript to transfer your FCC credits to your primary college.
