Junior ACF
The Junior American Culinary Federation (ACF) was organized so senior ACF members (industry chefs) could mentor young culinary students. The Junior ACF is committed to community service, competitions, social activities and education. Through their involvement, culinary arts students have a wonderful opportunity for camaraderie, shared interests and education when they join.
The ACF is the largest professional chefs' organization in North America and is the national certifying association for professional cooks and chefs.
Chocolate Gala
The Chocolate Gala is an annual event presented by the Frederick Sister Cities Association. Each year, Chef Jon Kimbrough does a large Chocolate Tallow Sculpture for the event and students volunteer to help the local restaurant and competing chefs in their preparations and presentations of chocolate specialties.
Student Professional Development Conference
Each year the Frederick County Business Round Table for Education organizes a Student Professional Development conference at FCC for high school sophomores. The Culinary Institute participates by conducting a Strawberries and Cream workshop that engages students while teaching them about careers in the food service and hospitality industry.
