Dear Prospective Surgical Technology Student:
Thank you for your interest in the Surgical Technology Program at Frederick Community College. Surgical technologists assist surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists in the operating room. They are involved in setting up the operating room for surgery, assembling equipment and supplies, and preparing patients for procedures. They are also integral in supporting the OR team before, during, and after surgery.
The Surgical Technology Program is designed so that students can receive a certificate in one year for those meeting basic entry-level skill requirements. Students can also obtain an Associate in Applied Science Degree by completing a series of general education courses along with the specific surgical technology courses. The AAS degree can generally be completed in two years.
Job opportunities for certified surgical technologists are increasing rapidly. Our certificate will prepare you for a career in the field of surgical technology and qualify you to apply for the national certification exam. This national examination is given to our students just prior to graduation on our campus. Our graduates have proven themselves to be both successful and satisfied in their chosen field.
I believe that you will find the program challenging, exciting, and very rewarding. If you have any further questions and for a rapid reply, please contact me by e-mail . I am enthusiastic about this program and look forward to communicating with potential students about the fantastic opportunities and benefits of graduating from the Surgical Technology Program at Frederick Community College!
