"I learned more in one semester at FCC than in my four years of study at a larger university."
FCC went far beyond my expectations and provided me with the best acting class and personal direction that I have ever encountered. I learned more in one semester at FCC than in my four years of study at a larger university. The professors at FCC gave me a fresh approach to theatre and the tools that I needed to find success in this crazy industry. Many thanks.
"Whatever talent and passion for the theatre I can claim began with Tad Janes and FCC Drama."
My time spent studying under Tad Janes at Frederick Community College has proven invaluable to my education as an actor and playwright. The opportunities created for myself and for other students covered a broad spectrum of work both within the college and in association with the Maryland Ensemble Theatre, Frederick's leading regional theatre company. Tad and FCC were responsible for full productions of three of my original plays, opportunities which are extremely difficult to come by, and I had the chance to both act and direct in many varied and challenging projects. Tad was the first instructor to introduce me to many of the core ideas of contemporary acting technique, ideas espoused by such teachers as Sanford Meisner and Uta Hagen, ideas originating in the Stanislavski System. Each and every concept Tad taught me has been absolutely crucial to my continued learning in WVU's BFA Acting program. Whatever talent and passion for the theatre I can claim began with Tad Janes and FCC Drama.
"That is one fun teacher!" …helped me boost up my self-confidence"
I went to FCC because I wanted to try and get back into acting after a couple of years of doing other things. I remember meeting Tad in the theatre and thinking to myself "That is one fun teacher!" I also remember being very scared about doing improv', especially since I didn't think I was very funny or fluent in English yet. But I worked on it. He also helped me boost up my self-confidence and saw something in me. I remember him telling that I was very talented and should pursue acting and guiding me to look at the school he went to, West Virginia University, to finish my college career. So, thanks to his advice and support, I continued studying at FCC, getting cast in “The Breakfast Club" that he directed, until I moved to Morgantown and received a BFA in Acting.
