Joe Campbell
Joe Campbell began his teaching career at Frederick Community College as an adjunct instructor of art in 1982. He joined the faculty as a full-time Professor in 1992, teaching ceramics, design, drawing and art history. Before starting at FCC, Joe also taught at Hood College and Ohio University.
Joe received his Bachelors degree from Frostburg State College in 1973, and his Masters of Fine Arts from Ohio University in 1976. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at FCC, Joe served as the Art Program Manager from 1998-2002, and continues to be a Co-Advisor to the Ceramics Club, a student/staff group that is a very active part of the campus community.
He exhibits his ceramic work nationally, with recent shows at the Washington County Arts Council Gallery, Hagerstown MD 2009 - Chi Contemporary Fine Arts, Brooklyn, NY 2008 – and Asian Influences Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA 2008. Joe is a member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, and a past board member of the Frederick Arts Council. Joe has taught numerous workshops in art history, ceramics, and artists brush-making, both on campus and around the country. He has been an Artist in Residence at the University of Idaho, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Maine, and Tierra Hermosa Pottery in New Mexico. Joe is also a frequent contributing writer to the ceramic arts periodical Clay Times.
