Where does FCC Get its water?

The source of water for Frederick Community College is from the City of Frederick water treatment facilities, which gets their water from Linganore Creek (nearly 50%), the Monocacy River (33%), Fishing Creek Reservoir (over 15%) and the Patomac River (1.5%). The Linganore Creek watershed is a sub-basin of the Monocacy River watershed area.

The watershed is dominated by agriculture (50%), forest (25%), and residential (15%). Water quality challenges arise from agricultural runoff, future development, construction activities, failing septic systems, and inadequate storm water management systems. The annual rainfall for the City of Frederick is typically 40 inches.

Water Conservation
Continued growth of Frederick County requires wise water consumption practices and technologies if we are to have enough for all our needs.
