| Control Alternatives for VAV Boxes |
Scope of Work includes:
Developing various control alternatives for Variable Air Volume (VAV) Boxes. The existing VAV Box controllers implement preconfigured Application Specific Controller (ASC) software. The application is configured to provide Cooling Terminal Box (VAV) control with duct reheat coil control and includes a Series Fan with variable fan speed controller.
- When the outside air temperature drops below 40°F. the heating water pumps are energized to run continuously and circulate heating water to all AHU heating coils and reheat coils. This portion of the sequence is to remain un-changed.
- Preventing unoccupied over heating conditions when the mechanical equipment freeze protection sequence is activated.
- Operating the VAV Box Series Fan at speeds between 0 to 20% would result in motor overheating and pre-mature failure. As such, the minimum speed signal permitted from the ASC program is 20%.
- Adding code programming to local associated JCI UNT's, AHU's and DX' controllers to provide VAV Box Series Fan commands and then remapping to the respective VAV Box controllers, eliminating unoccupied overheating and eliminating unnecessary unoccupied fan operation.
