Improve Integrity of Building Envelope

Scope of Work includes:
1. Weather-striping  130 fire, mechanical, access and exterior doors. In many cases the existing door knobs hinder the effective operation of the weather-stripping when it is installed on the jamb so the weather-stripping is installed on the door. This eliminates knuckle scrapping.

  • Examining surfaces affected by the installation of weather-stripping and notifing ESCO in writing if substrates are unsatisfactory
  • Testing doors to be weather-stripped for proper closing and notifying ESCO in writing if any door hardware needs to be adjusted to ensure proper operation
  • Removing any old weather-stripping and door sweeps
  • Attaching new weather-strip DX 1000 with self tapping screws; consisting of an aluminum carrier with a clad foam insert (pproximate size 5.2m x 17’ long)
  • Installing door sweep DSS 10914 consisting of long heavy duty aluminum extrusion, single line 13mm Finseal
  • Installing weather-stripping/seals plumbing, squareing and leveling, wherever possible

2. Foaming pipe, duct and conduit penetrations at various locations throughout the building (i.e. mechanical rooms, attic, etc.)

  • Differentiating eligible leakage areas through the thermal barrier from interior holes
  • Examining sizes and conditions of voids to be sealed to establish correct thickness and installation of materials
  • Verifying that the surfaces are ready to accept the work
  • Applying sealants within manufacturer's specifications
  • Including one-component and two component polyurethane foam materials
  • Using single component foam for cracks and openings 6 mm to 50 mm wide
  • Using two component foam sealant for gaps over 50 mm and voids in hidden cavities

3. Seal 7,254 roof/wall intersection.
