Description |
Annual Savings |
CO2 Sensors for Outside Air Minimization |
This project allows more efficient operation of air-conditioning and heating systems for thirteen areas. It controls the amount of outside air that flows into building based upon CO2 concentration. These are the areas under this control:
Bldg E Conference Rooms
Sweadner Hall Large Conference Room
Library
Bldg A Room A-201 |
Savings is offset by needed comfort improvement. |
VAV Box Fan Smart Operation |
There are over 250 small electric fans in the supply ductwork above many classrooms and offices. This improvement eliminates unnecessary fan operation during unoccupied periods in winter. The change was incorporated into the building control system. |
$23,149 |
Commission Major Air Handling Equipment |
Verify fourteen major units are performing to engineers’ specifications. Check that mechanical/electrical components are operating properly. Adjust or repair as necessary. Make recommendations for facility upgrades. Seal air leaks in major ductwork in mechanical rooms. |
$8,432 |
Re-lamp classrooms, common purpose, and utility areas |
Technology has improved since the original lamps were installed. 2,666 overhead lighting fixtures were retrofitted with lower-wattage bulbs on this project. The new gymnasium overhead lamps alone save 3000 watts. |
$14,778 |
Occupancy Sensors to Classrooms and Low Occupancy Rooms |
These 58 sensors detect the presence of occupants and turn the lights on. When no occupants are present for a specified period of time, the lights are turned out. |
$2,625 |
Improve Building Envelope Integrity |
Survey using thermal imaging technology the location of building air leaks. Seal voids in with foam material. Seal pipe, duct, and conduit penetrations. Repair and replace door weather-stripping. |
$9,692 |
Energy Awareness Web Sites |
A set of twenty-five web pages designed specifically for FCC to increase awareness, to inform, and to instruct on matters of energy conservation and sustainability. Subjects covered will be: site energy use, site environmental and facility projects, and general energy conservation principles. |
$2,500 |
Sustainable Energy Education & Communications |
A structured, self-instructional program for up to 300 persons to increase knowledge and motivation on the subject of sustainability and energy conservation. |
$2,500 |
Vending Machine Energy Conservation |
A structured, self-instructional program for up to 300 persons to increase knowledge and motivation on the subject of sustainability and energy conservation. |
$1,679 |
Kiln Room (Art Class) Smart Ventilation Control |
Automatically operate exhaust ventilation to remove heat from kilns only when necessary. |
$817 |
