Environmental Stewardship at FCC

Here is a list of actions that are being taken at FCC which have a positive impact on the environment, both locally and globally.

  • Natural gas used as primary heating fuel
  • All daily use large mowers equipped with diesel engines
  • Over 66% of fluorescent lamps used are Low-Mercury compliant
  • All faucets equipped with water-saver aerators
  • All showers equipped with low-flow showerheads
  • All building toilets (except F bldg.) equipped with timed faucets and low-flow flush valves
  • All plumbing fixtures inspected monthly for proper operation and leaks
  • Current city/county/ state mandated water use restriction is being met with a 10% reduction
  • All used batteries (exit / emergency light and auto) recycled
  • All waste oil recycled
  • All junk iron, steel and aluminum recycled
  • Replacement of all PCB transformers
  • Removal of all asbestos
  • Use of latex paint in all possible situations
  • Two operational chillers equipped with R-123 refrigerant and air/refrigerant monitors
  • Reclamation of all refrigerants by a certified technician as per EPA requirement
  • Retrofit of refrigeration manifold gauge hose fittings to prevent venting of refrigerant to the atmosphere during service work.
  • Regular service of all air handling equipment, which includes cleaning interiors and coils, and changing filters
  • Regular cleaning of all cooling towers proper maintenance of water treatment
  • Tested all drinking fountains
  • Waste paper and aluminum can recycling program
