Energy Use In One School Year
(kilowatt-hours)

What is a "kilowatt-hour" (kWh)?

A "kilowatt" is a unit of electrical power. It takes one kilowatt of power to run about 17 (60w) lightbulbs. A "kilowatt-hour" is the amount of energy used by one kilowatt of power over the span of one hour. In other words, you would use one kilowatt-hour's worth of electrical energy if you left those 17 bulbs on for one hour. One kilowatt-hour costs about $0.09. The number shown above is how many kilowatt-hours (kWh) this college has used since the beginning of the school year. For additional FCC facts and figures click on "Charts & Graphs"to the right.
